My boy Keegan and I launched the North River Seahawk boat; powered by twin Yamaha outboards and ventured out to a secluded bay on Prince of Wales Island. After anchoring the boat and rowing to shore, we hiked up an old trail to seek the wild Pacific steelhead salmon. We fished hard on day 1 and missed numerous steelhead, but Keegan managed to land a handful of rainbow trout.
Keegan and I slept in and had a hearty, camp-like breakfast on the boat. Keegan was on fire and caught numerous rainbow trout, dolly vardens, and landed two wild steelhead. These two salmon were Keegan's first steelhead. After a few pictures, we gently released them back to the river and enjoyed the beautiful day.
